The Razzle Dazzle Vaulting Club is based in Sundre, currently has about 10 vaulters of all skill levels and is always looking for new members. As the club trains and practises all year, there is never a bad time to join.
Equestrian vaulting is a combination of dance and gymnastics on the back of a moving horse. There can be a single vaulter, a pair, or a team of six with three on the horse at any given time during the performance. There are three classes in the competitions — walk, trot and canter, as well as four levels in each class, and as the rider progresses, he or she moves up.
The club's competitive season started in April with its first show in Rimbey from April 9-10. Five vaulters and one horse participated in the two-day competition.
The group is not-for-profit and tries to do as much fundraising as possible throughout the year to keep the cost low for families. The club is always on the lookout for new fundraising opportunities as well as sponsors. Organizers are also planning to start a recreational program in the summer as well as another in the fall. The competitive program runs all year.
Additionally, there are plans to host a clinic for people who are interested in trying out equestrian vaulting before committing to it, and the club will also be hosting some demonstrations during the summer to show people what the sport is all about.
