About 110 current and former Olds College students came together on Jan. 29 for the annual alumni rodeo at the college.
The competitors tried their hands at events ranging from pole bending to women's cow riding and saddle bronc.
“The kids who are on the (Olds College rodeo) team this year, they competed in the rodeo but it's also kids who have ever attended (the) college or who competed on the college team,” said Cougen Pegg, vice-president of the rodeo club.
Amber Hines won the pole bending event, while Tyler Johnson won the tie down roping. Ky Marshall took top spot in the bareback event while Courtney Beverly took top spot in ladies cow riding. Katie Marshall was best in the breakaway roping while Greg Hoar took first in the steer wrestling. Leah Olstad placed first in the goat tying event while Jake Brown was the top competitor in the saddle bronc. Ryan Kruger and Carson Bowhay took top spot in the team roping and Lacey Stanton was the fastest in barrel racing. Armando Davila was the top cowboy in bull riding.
About 200 spectators also attended the event.
The current team will be hosting the first Inter-collegiate Rodeo Association event of the season at the college Saturday and Sunday.
