Seven members of the Olds Gymnastics Club (OGC) are getting ready to compete in the artistic provincials, April 12-14 in Edmonton.

Kia Waiting, Reegan Johnston, Emma Legris, Chelsea Jardine, Cecelia Hildebrandt, Tuesday Martinson and Dani Giles qualified in Junior Olympic Level 6 during the southern zones in Wetaskiwin March 22-24.

They competed against more than 100 athletes to earn a spot among the top 48 athletes who qualified.

"This is huge for a town our size," head coach Michelle Jaffray says. "The only gymnastics club to qualify more athletes was a big club from Calgary, which qualified eight athletes."

Also, Olds gymnastics won three out of the four specialty awards presented.

They are: Kia Waiting, most dynamic uneven bars; Emma legris, most artistic floor routine; and Kennedy Jaffray, most artistic beam routine.

In total, 10 OGC athletes competed in the southern zones.
