Olds native Daulton Siwak will be attending a prospect camp later this month with 35 other NHL hopefuls from August16 to 18 in Etobicoke, Ont.

The camp is designed to test drive a few rule changes for the 2011-12 NHL season and will use the prospects to test them out. As an added bonus, the hopefuls will get to show their skills to all 30 NHL general managers and head coaches.

“It's basically just a fun camp ... for them to see us obviously and to do some research on new rules that they may use in the NHL,” he said.

Siwak said he hopes to use the camp to raise his profile among the NHL's main talent evaluators and “open some eyes to some GMs and coaches to what I can do, and just drink in the experience,” he said.

Red Deer Rebels teammate, Matthew Dumba will also be among the players at the camp.

Siwak, who is eligible for the entry draft next summer, will be entering his third Western Hockey League season in 2011-12. Last year, the 17-year-old played in 72 games for the Rebels, notching 13 goals and 14 assists while spending 49 minutes in the penalty box.
