Olds High School's senior girls volleyball team lost its Chinook's Edge Athletic Association South finals match 3-2 to the Didsbury High School (DHS) Dragons on Nov. 5.
The Spartans cruised through the first two sets, winning them 25-17 and 25-15, respectively.
DHS struck back in the third and led the Spartans 17-9 at one point. The Spartans managed to claw back, tying the set at 21 before the Dragons took it 25-21.
The Dragons won the fourth set 25-17, forcing a deciding fifth.
Both teams traded points but the Dragons ultimately completed the comeback with a 15-13 win in the fifth set.
“They stayed consistent and once they got the momentum then they just kept going,” said head coach Wanda Vandervelden after the match.
“We did a lot of really good things. It always hurts a little more when we beat ourselves but there's next week and we'll get ourselves ready for zones.”
