Despite steady improvement, the Olds Stingers are still looking for the team's first win of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League season, dropping the latest decision 12-6 to the Calgary Wranglers at the Olds Sports Complex on Sunday.

It was the Stingers' first home game of the season.

“We had a fairly good strong start. This was our third game (of the season) and as our games are coming along, the boys seem to be slowly improving, so there is some positive notes out of it,” said coach Michael Bouma.

While Bouma said the junior team is still working on a few different aspects of its game, he said he's happy that the group is progressing.

“We've just started back up this year with the junior program in Olds, so we've got a few growing pains we've got to get through. But for the most part, I think it's beginning to come together for us,” he said.

Previously, the Stingers dropped the season opener 18-4 to the Lethbridge Barracudas in Lethbridge and the Medicine Hat Sun Devils 15-2 in Medicine Hat on May 8.

“I don't think the score is indicative of some of the results that we're beginning to see from our players. Although we didn't win the games, we are beginning to improve as we get into the season, so we're looking very positive to the outcome of our season,” Bouma said.

The team's next game is May 26 against the Strathmore Venom, in Strathmore. The team's next home game is May 29 against the Rockyview Silvertips at 4:30 p.m.
