Earlier this spring, the Olds Canadian Tire store held its annual hanging basket sale during which it raises money for the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program, a charity that helps fund recreation activities for children who otherwise wouldn’t be able to participate in those activities.
Lesia Asaris, who co-owns the local store with her husband Mike says as of late June, they had sold more than 2,500 hanging baskets, including more than 800 during the hanging basket sale held on May 30, thereby raising $2,345 for Jumpstart.
That's about $700 more than they raised in 2018.
"We had excellent weather for the day so we were able to raise more money," she says.
