Two B.C. guards join Olds College Broncos men's basketball team

Both players are expected to bring drive and passion to the game

OLDS — The Olds College men’s basketball team has recruited two guards from B.C. for the 2021-22 season.

They are Sina Hashemi and Gryphon Talbot.

Hashemi, originally from Port Moody, B.C., comes to Olds College from Prairie College in Three Hills.

While there, the 6'1" guard competed against Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 2, 3, and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) teams.

He averaged 10 points, four assists and three rebounds per game.

Before coming to Prairie College, Hashemi played his first year of college basketball at Langara College in Vancouver.

"What Sina brings to the table first and foremost is leadership,” head coach Harrison Corolis says.

“On and off of the court, he will lead by example and make sure everyone in our program is held accountable, including himself.”

Gryphon Talbot is originally from Fort St. John, B.C. where he attended North Peace Secondary School (NPSS).

While at NPSS, Talbot, who stands 6'0," averaged 17 points per game.

"Gryphon is a great freshman addition to our veteran-heavy roster, as he brings his ability to stretch the floor as a shooter, but also the skill level to create his own shot as a penetrator,” Corolis says.
