Fifth-year women’s basketball player Brittney Thibeaux and first-year student-athlete Priyanna Ramdhani are the A&W Olds College athletes of the week for March 2-8.

Both students are studying sports management.

Thibeaux ended her Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) career with a couple more accolades to add to her resume.

The Lake Villa, Ill. native began the ACAC women’s basketball championship by being selected as the ACAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year for the second season in a row.

She followed that up by being selected to the ACAC Women’s Basketball Championship all-star team after leading the Broncos in rebounding, and game highs in points in all three games of the tournament.

She also led the Broncos in assists in the final two games of the tournament where the Broncos lost to eventual ACAC Champion Lakeland College in the semifinal and St. Mary’s University in the bronze medal final.

Ramdhani had a strong rookie year placing second in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA) provincial championships in women's singles and then moving on to place fourth in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships, held March 5-7 Mississauga, Ont.

The Peter’s Hall, Guyana native had a fantastic weekend, losing to the 2019 CCAA silver medallist Anh Hoang in a hard fought three-set bronze medal match.
