WINNIPEG — Manitoba's police watchdog is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Winnipeg that ended with a man's death.
City police issued a news release on Sunday saying officers conducted a traffic stop at Portage Avenue and Bourkevale Drive on Saturday evening.
They say one of the officers fired a gun, hitting the adult male driver.
Police say officers immediately provided emergency medical care.
The man was transported to hospital in critical condition and didn't survive.
The release says the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has been notified and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.
