WINNIPEG — Police in Winnipeg say a drug-trafficking investigation that began last year has resulted in the seizure of 2.67 kilograms of fentanyl they say is worth more than $1 million.
Police say their guns and gangs unit began investigating a man suspected of trafficking a large amount of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine in November.
On Feb. 10, with the assistance of a tactical support team, police say they arrested the suspect and searched a home, where a woman was also arrested.
In addition to the fentanyl, police allege they also seized cocaine estimated to be worth $25,900, methamphetamine estimated to be worth $27,700 and approximately $30,000 in Canadian currency.
Police say they also found counterfeit Canadian currency, tools for making counterfeit currency, as well as scales, a vacuum sealer and two pellet guns.
A 39-year-old man remains in custody and faces numerous charges, while a 38-year-old woman who also faces charges was released on an undertaking.
