Alberta Emergency Alert issued for parts of Mountain View County Tuesday

Some residents' potable water supply being affected by treatment plant shutdown, alert says

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - An Alberta Emergency Alert was issued Tuesday morning for everyone within 25 kilometres of Sundre.

Mountain View County has advised that the Winchell Lake water treatment plant south of Water Valley will be turning off the potable water system on Tuesday, February 25 at 8 a.m.

“Residents will lose pressure in the potable water system,” the 8:57 a.m. alert said.

Service should be restored by 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the alert, action to take includes:

• Refrain from opening up taps for non-essential use

• Once the system is restored, run your water taps to flush the system

• There may be air trapped in some lines so you may notice some spurting
