MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY — County council has officially recognized RCMP Const. Shelby Patton, who was killed June 12 while on duty in Saskatchewan.
During Wednesday’s council meeting, Reeve Bruce Beattie proposed a moment of silence in recognition of Patton.
“I want to take a minute to recognize that constable and all the RCMP officers in Alberta and Canada who work on behalf of all of us,” said Beattie.
“When you read about the history of Mr. Patton and how he participated in his community, how he took his job so seriously, to be killed in such a fashion is just unacceptable.
“I would like take a minute of silence to remember constable Patton and all those RCMP and police officers who have died on duty serving us. When you need something, you call the police to help.”
Patton was struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop in Wolseley, Sask.
