MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - The preliminary hearing for a Sundre man charged in the shooting death of a fellow resident last year gets underway in Calgary Court of Justice on Monday, say officials.
Richard McCulloch, 37, faces a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Justin Goodhand, 36.
Goodhand was shot at a residence northeast of Sundre in Mountain View County on Jan. 25, 2024. He was pronounced dead at hospital shortly after the shooting.
Preliminary hearings are held to determine if there is enough evidence to send an accused person to trial.
McCulloch’s preliminary hearing is scheduled from March 3-7.
Should he be ordered to trial, McCulloch has already elected to be tried by judge and jury.
