MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - County council meetings in July and August will be held in Town of Olds' council chambers as the county undertakes a large-scale renovation and upgrade project at the county administration building.

Council discussed and approved the temporary meeting relocation during the recent regularly scheduled council meeting.

County administration recommended that the July 10, Aug. 14 and Aug. 28 regular council meetings be held in the Olds council chamber, located in the town's administration office on Highway 27.

“This option would provide a similar level of service to the public as well as council and administration,” Jeff Holmes, chief administrative officer, said in a briefing note to council.

“The livestream capability would continue as the Town of Olds has both microphones and videos available for use. The Town of Olds has advised they are willing to provide the county use of their chambers for above-mentioned dates.”

Alternatives considered were the council chambers at Didsbury, Carstairs, Cremona, Sundre, Olds College and a rural community hall.

“The agricultural service board and municipal planning committees meetings in July and August will be making their own alternate arrangements for their meetings, he said.

“Once locations are confirmed, the general public will be notified of all meeting location changes in advance of the meeting date.”

The agricultural service board meetings scheduled for July 15 and August 19 will be moved to the Town of Carstairs council chambers, the county confirmed this week.

The renovation project includes work in both offices and council chambers at the county office, located off Highway 2A between Olds and Didsbury. The project is expected to be completed in September.
