MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – The county will be providing financial assistance in support of the Reed Ranch Country Fair this September.
The move came by way of motion at the recent regularly scheduled council meeting, held in person and online.
The third annual fair is a family-friendly event that focuses on teaching and promoting rural skills and knowledge, as well as preserving traditional rural activities, council heard.
The fair takes place on the Reed Ranch School grounds on Highway 27 east of Olds.
“It’s a really good event,” said Division 7 councillor Jennifer Lutz. “I’d put September 7 on your calendar.”
In a letter to council, Martina Kranjcevic, treasurer of the Reed Ranch Country Fair said, “Our main focus of the fair is that everyone is welcome to attend and participate. We also focus on eliminating the financial barriers to participating in a fun activity with your family.
“There is no cost to attend the event and we try to keep the lunch cost low. Your (county’s) support would held us to achieve this goal, and to help promote rural community and tradition in our area.”
Councillors carried a motion for the county to provide $700 to cover the cost of renting the milking cow demonstration and the associated transportation and set-up cost that will go with it.
