WATER VALLEY — This year’s Terry Fox Run is the 40th anniversary of Terry’s iconic run to raise funds for cancer research. It takes place on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020.
With the COVID-19 restrictions, we invite our loyal participants and donors to do the run in a new way, under the theme of “One Day Your Way”.
You can gather your family and friends to walk, skate, run, bike your favorite route and register online at terryfox.org to make your donation.
There are some really neat ideas and links there for going virtual. If you have participated before with a pledge form, you will have received one in the mail along with your 40th anniversary sticker.
The merchandise is also available online with the awesome 40th T-shirts, hoodies, ball caps and even a Terry Fox mask.
Adidas had produced a replica of the original running shoe Terry used which quickly sold out with all proceeds going to the Terry Fox Foundation.
Although we are disappointed not to be able to celebrate this year with our barbecue, fellowship and usual gathering, I would love to hear and see pictures of how “Your Way“ works out.
If anyone is wishing to donate through the Water Valley run call and we will arrange a meeting. I will have a limited number of T-shirts for sale.
If you are using your pledge form and mailing it in our call number is AB1188 or your favorite site to show we are still doing the run.
When Terry Fox was forced to stop his run, he said, “Even though I’m not running anymore, people should go ahead and try to do their own thing”. So let’s do just that and make this another great year for cancer research fundraising.
