Hamilton-raised Broadway star Nick Cordero is in hospital undergoing a test for COVID-19 after being admitted with pneumonia.
His wife, dancer-turned-celebrity personal trainer Amanda Kloots, made the announcement on her Instagram account Wednesday.
In a post that included a photo of Cordero holding their nine-month-old boy Elvis, Kloots said he had been sick for a while with what they were told last week was pneumonia.
She said they think he was misdiagnosed and they're waiting to hear if the illness is in fact COVID-19.
Kloots wrote that Cordero, with whom she lives in Los Angeles, was in the intensive care unit and "unconscious so his body can get enough oxygen."
She didn't specify where the hospital is but posted an update on her Instagram story saying they're still awaiting the coronavirus test results and that he was in stable condition and "his oxygen levels are OK."
Kloots, who hails from Ohio, added that she needs to prepare herself "for the long haul" because they're "at the beginning of this."
Messages to representatives for Kloots and Cordero were not immediately returned.
Cordero was nominated for a Tony Award for his role in "Bullets Over Broadway," and a Drama Desk Award for his role in the musical "A Bronx Tale."
He grew up in Hamilton's west end and attended Ryerson University for acting.
"Nick is scared too, this has gone from bad to worse," Kloots wrote in the Instagram post, which also noted that she wasn't allowed to be at his bedside during this time.
"He isn't allowed to eat or drink, he is very weak and having a hard time breathing. Elvis and I are feeling completely fine. My hubby is fighting like a champ but this is serious. Please stay home everybody."
