Saturday March 7, 2020, the Tway Sno-Snakes held their annual snowmobile rally. While the weather last year for the rally was bitterly cold, this year was just ugly. Snow and blowing snow made conditions cold and nasty to say the least, but the avid snowmobilers came out anyway. A total of 185 riders braved the weather, which to everyone’s pleasant surprise was more than last year. The volunteer organizers know first hand that one can never predict what will happen. The weather forecast can say one thing and the opposite happens, or it can be ‘bang-on’ and the hardy snowmobilers will show up ready to ride and help raise some money. So, no matter the weather, the rally goes on. The Community Centre was once again filled with donations for door prizes, raffle prizes, and the Silent Auction from near and far and a huge list graced the wall of the Centre. New this year was a Kids Auction Table.
This year, once again out-doing last year, a total of 2120 poker hands were sold and first place was shared by four individuals who each took home $265: Spencer McArthur, Tammy Guenther, Ed Keindel, and Victoria Shulhan. Second place was shred between five people with each taking home $128: Gord Hnidy, Christina Canfield, Braysen Palmer, Jeff Martin, and Clint Prytula. Third place was split three ways with each person taking home $142: Sally Wojcichowski, Leonard Wojcichowski, and Ken Kowalchuk. The winner of the 50/50 was Christine Spiker who took home $1128.50.
There were also prizes reserved solely for the riders and the following winners took home some great prizes: Whitney Jones, Jeff Stroeder, Christopher Hudye, Troy Laroche, Jesse Dopko, Cristian Canfield, Chris Dutka, Regan Balone, Gary Sand, Don Lysitza, and Dustin Kowalchuk. The highest bidders and therefore the winners of the Silent Auction items were: Cindy Balon, Randy Stelmashuk, Arlene Coquet, Darlene Poncelet, Tanya Kristoff, Nicky Shulhan, Dale Markling and Karry Broulch.
