Canada Soccer names goalkeeping and set plays coach for women's national team

Jen Herst has joined Bev Priestman's staff with the Canadian women's team as goalkeeper and set plays coach.

Herst most recently served as goalkeeper coach for the Welsh women's national team and had a similar role before with England women's youth teams. She has also worked as a goalkeeper coach with Liverpool and Everton in the FA Women’s Super League sides .

“I’m delighted to add Jen Herst to the technical team for Canada Soccer’s women’s national team,” Priestman said in a statement. “She brings some valuable experience both in the professional and international women’s game and has a great reputation not only in goalkeeping but set plays.”

Herst, who succeeds Michael Norris as the women's goalkeeping coach, joins other recent women's team hires in assistant coach Andy Spence and equipment manager Claire Eccles.

The sixth-ranked Canadian women will face No. 3 Germany, No. 6 England and No. 9 Spain next month in the inaugural Arnold Clark Cup in Middlesbrough, Norwich and Wolverhampton, England.
