SUNRISE, Fla. — Joel Quenneville has resigned as head coach of the Florida Panthers.
The move comes after Quenneville met with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman to discuss his role in what happened in Chicago during the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs, when player Kyle Beach claimed he was sexually assaulted by Blackhawks assistant Brad Aldrich.
Quenneville was the head coach of that team, which won the Stanley Cup.
An investigation into the incident found Quenneville was part of a group of Blackhawks team leaders that discussed the allegations in a May 23, 2010 meeting, then failed to act.
More coming.
