VANCOUVER — Goaltender Ty Young has agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks.

Young was selected in the fifth round, 144th overall, in the 2022 NHL Entry draft. The 19-year-old Young appeared in a career-high 34 games for the Western Hockey League's Prince George Cougars last season.

"Ty has made some improvements since we drafted him last year and we were pleased to see him play meaningful games in the WHL playoffs," said Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin. "He has good size and our goalie development team see a lot of potential in his game if he continues to put in the work and follow the plan we have put in place for him moving forward."

He had a 15-13-13 record with a 3.89 goals-against average and .889 save percentage.

Young split his 2021-22 season between the Cougars and the AJHL's Calgary Canucks, where he had a .918 save percentage and a 3.38 GAA.
