VANCOUVER — The B.C. Lions have signed Canadian wide receiver Lemar Durant to a one-year extension that will keep him with the team through the 2022 season.
The native of Coquitlam, B.C., was named the Lions' top Canadian last year, hauling in 57 receptions for 810 yards and five touchdowns.
The 28-year-old Simon Fraser product was selected in the second round by Calgary in the 2015 CFL draft. In 51 games over four seasons with the Stampeders, Durant recorded 102 catches for 1,280 yards and eight touchdowns.
He was also named most valuable Canadian in the 2018 Grey Cup with 52 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown reception in Calgary’s 27-16 win over Ottawa.
“I’m excited to be staying in my hometown with this group that’s being assembled by (co-GMs) Neil McEvoy and coach (Rick) Campbell,” Durant said in a statement.
“With (quarterback) Mike Reilly also locked up, plus the other offensive weapons that are already in place, I can’t wait to return to the field and help this squad get to the next level.”
FULLBACK STAYS WITH STAMPS
The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed Canadian fullback William Langlais.
The native of Hull, Que., was a third-round pick by Calgary in the 2015 CFL draft.
Langlais appeared in nine regular-season games in 2019 and had four receptions for 54 yards, including a career-long 33-yarder, one carry for three yards and one special-teams tackle.
For his career, Langlais has 54 special-teams tackles and 13 receptions for 189 yards.
“I couldn’t see myself playing for another team,” Langlais said in a statement. “I missed the city of Calgary during this long layoff since we were last on the field so I’m really happy to be back."
ROUGHRIDERS ADD FIVE
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have re-signed two Canadians, signed two Americans and had another American opt back into his contract.
Canadian receiver Jake Harty and defensive lineman Jordan Reaves have signed one-year extensions with the club.
Harty signed with the Roughriders last year after three seasons with Ottawa.
Reaves originally signed with Saskatchewan in 2016 after spending 2015 on the Winnipeg practice roster.
The Roughriders also signed defensive back Jeremy Clark and wide receiver Sammie Coates and had defensive back AJ Hendy opt back into his contract.
