Los Angeles FC has re-signed Canadian international Dejan Jakovic and fellow defender Jordan Harvey.

The MLS club had declined Jakovic's contract option in November while Harvey's deal was expiring.

"Jordan and Dejan have been consummate professionals since joining the club and we're pleased to have re-signed both players," John Thorrington, LAFC's GM and executive vice-president of soccer operations, said in a statement. "They provide an invaluable veteran presence in the locker room, and their level of experience and dedication have been crucial to the team's success the past two years."

Harvey made US$165,000 last season while Jakovic earned $153,750.

The 34-year-old Jakovic saw action in 18 regular season games (15 starts) and two U.S. Open Cup matches over the last two seasons with LAFC.

Prior to L.A., he spent time with Serbia's Red Star Belgrade (2008), D.C. United (2009-13), Japan's Shimizu S-Pulse (2014-16) and the New York Cosmos (2017).

Jakovic has won 41 caps (38 starts) for Canada. Born in Croatia, he was six when his family moved to the Toronto area.

The 35-year-old Harvey, a former Vancouver Whitecap, appeared in 30 MLS games (28 starts) in 2019 and surpassing the 2,000-minute mark for the seventh consecutive season and ninth in his MLS career. The 14-year veteran had one goal and a career-best five assists.
