QMJHL Roundup: Tigres claw out win over Foreurs, Titan trounce Mooseheads

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Nathan Darveau made 35 saves and registered an assist as the Victoriaville Tigres clawed out a 3-1 win over the Val-d'Or Foreurs in Quebec Junior Hockey League action on Friday.

The goalie helped out on Jeremy Martin's game-winning tally midway through the opening frame. Maxime Pellerin and Edouard Carrier also scored for the Tigres (17-27-7).

William Provost got the Foreurs (21-26-4) on the board 16:56 into the third period. 

Tristan Boileau stopped 28-of-31 shots for Val-d'Or, which lost its fourth straight game.

QUEBEC CITY — With just five seconds left on the game clock, Nathan Gaucher scored his 25th of the season, lifting Quebec (37-14-1) to its fourth straight win. Zachary Bolduc had a goal and an assist for Gatineau (36-15-1), but the Olympiques saw their losing skid stretch to six games.

BAIE-COMEAU, QUE. — A 37-save performance from Jacob Goobie lifted Drummondville (22-18-11) to a shutout over Baie-Comeau (17-25-8). Jeremy Lapointe scored a pair of goals for the Voltigeurs, who won their second in a row.

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Philippe Daoust scored a short-handed tally 37 seconds into the middle frame, giving Saint John (32-16-4) a 5-0 lead. Moncton was quick to respond, narrowing the deficit to 6-3 before the end of the period, but the Wildcats couldn't completely close the gap and fell to 22-22-6 on the season.

TITAN 11 MOOSEHEADS 2

HALIFAX — Ben Allison scored a hat trick and notched an assist and Hendrix Lapierre put up a pair of goals and three helpers as Acadie-Bathurst (32-14-4) dismantled Halifax (26-25-2) for its eighth straight win. The game was tied at 1-1 less than two minutes into the first period before the Titan  got on a roll, scoring nine goals in a row.
