1948 - 2022
Mr. Kenneth ‘Ken’ Garfield Alkenbrack of Penhold, Alberta passed away at Innisfail, Alberta on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the age of 74 years.
Ken was born in Kingston, Ontario on January 17, 1948. He was raised in Napanee, Ontario and lived there until 1977. Ken loved the outdoors; camping, fishing, hunting and quadding were some of his favorite activities.
In 1977, Ken moved to Alberta and found employment as a truck driver for the Pepsi Company in Red Deer, Alberta. Ken drove trucks for a few years and then decided to take a local job in Penhold, Alberta, at Jessie Duncan Elementary School as the Caretaker. He stayed there up until his retirement. Ken enjoyed going for drives with his wife, Marilyn; where they would make many stops along the way to visit friends and family. Ken could often be found tinkering in his garage until company would see the door open, and then it would be time for a cold beverage.
Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marilyn Alkenbrack, his sons, Harold Alkenbrack, Kenny Alkenbrack and James Barclay, his daughter, Vicki Bentley, his four grandchildren and his six great grandchildren.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Elsie and Harold Alkenbrack, a sister, Rosellene Sweet and a brother, Colan Alkenbrack.
A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at the Heartland Funeral Services Chapel, 4415 – 49 Street, Innisfail, Alberta on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations may be made to a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
