It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, James Robert Allison, who passed away on May 8, 2024, at the age of 87 years.

His memory will be cherished by Margaret nee Holden, married for 66 years, children Connie Sinasac (Dan) and Scott (Pamela). Grandchildren Mark, Danielle, Micheala, and Ben. Great grandchildren: Zennon, Logan, and Liam. Jim will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and by so many wonderful friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Jennie Allison, sisters Barbara and Margaret, and grandson Matthew.

Jim had a full and productive life and had a positive impact on many people. As a teenager, he was awarded the Queen’s Scout Award, now the Queen’s Venturer Award, which is the highest award that can be achieved in the Scouting youth program in Canada.

After high school, Jim worked for a short time at Pilkington Glass before he began his career with Texaco Exploration. During his 27 years with Texaco, Jim, and his wife Margaret, lived in Peace River, Cynthia, and Rocky Mountain House, and then returned to Edmonton. While living in Rocky, Jim was very involved in the local community and was an avid curler, bringing home many trophies and prizes. He started his time with the Kinsmen Club of Canada while living in Rocky. On his return to Edmonton, Jim continued working avidly with the Kinsmen Club and continued curling. When Jim left Texaco, he spent a brief period working in Fort McMurray for an oil and gas company. On his return to Edmonton, Jim and Margaret purchased Clarence’s Shoes and Saddlery in Disbury, where they spent the next 37 years. Jim was deeply involved in the Masonic Order of Canada and served as Master Mason for two terms and served as Secretary for the balance of his time with the Masons. In 2016, Jim and Margaret moved to Sherwood Park to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no service at this time.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Allen Gray Continuing Care Center for their kindness, support, and care provided to Jim during his time there.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to the: The Gray House Guild, c/o Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre
