1934 - 2021
Geraldine passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side at the Silver Willow Lodge in Nanton, Alberta on the 25th of August, 2021 at the age of 87 years.
Geraldine is sadly missed by her daughter Carolyn Dreher of Calgary; grandchildren John Dozeman his wife Morgan and their two girls Madison and Mackenzie, of Nanton, Jason Dozeman, of Nanton, Meaghan Dozeman-Nesbitt and her husband Kelly Nesbitt of Nanton; brother Lewis Murray and his wife Faith of Edmonton; sister Phylis Nault of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan; and nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Cecile Murray of North Battleford, sister Coleen of Turtleford, brother Earl and his wife Eleanor Murray of North Battleford, Lloyd Murray of Vancouver, her husband John Gerald Anderson of Olds and niece and nephews of Saskatchewan.
Geraldine was born second of six children to William and Cecile Murray in Marcelin, Saskatchewan.
She attended school in North Battleford, graduating from the Convent there. She then took nursing in Saskatoon. After graduating, she married John Gerald and they moved to Calgary, Alberta where their only child Carolyn was born and she began a very long and successful career in Health Care.
She worked at the Holy Cross Hospital Nursing and General Hospital Medical Records and was very involved with the union even acting as the secretary. She and Gerald moved to Red Water for a short time, then to Didsbury and choosing to settle in Olds. She worked as Registrar at the Olds College until Gerald past away in 1992. During and after her husband’s death she attended and graduated from the Licensed Practical Nurse program and went to work at the Olds Hospital until she retired and took up a companionship role for an elderly women in Olds.
Then her health began to fail and she moved to the Silver Willow Lodge in Nanton to be closer to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed independence, friendship, socializing and bus trips until she fell and broke her wrist on July 25, 2021.
Geraldine’s Celebration of Life will be held at St. Stephen’s Parish, (4302 57 Ave, Olds, Alberta), on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Thomas Vadaserry of St. Stephen’s Parish. Following the service, Geraldine will be laid to rest at Olds Cemetery.
