Sept. 10, 1947 – June 14, 2024

Lawrence John Anderson was born September 10, 1947, to Doris and Corbet Anderson in Grenfell, SK. The first of 4 children, Lawrence displayed an independent spirit, keeping Doris and Corbet ever alert to his whereabouts and activities. From an early age Lawrence made evident his penchant for mischief, fun and a total resistance to being “told what to do!” His grandchildren have been much entertained by stories of his youth and adventures.

After graduating from high school, Lawrence went on to post-secondary studies for a year before deciding that was not the path for him. He started working in the lumberyard/hardware business at 19, a career he would love for his entire life. He worked for Beaver Lumber for many years, followed by Home Hardware both in Didsbury and Olds, then Rona, Ace and Cargill until his retirement at 70.

He loved his acreage outside of Red Lodge Park and spent 25 years there enjoying the trees, moon, stars, visiting moose, birds and hummingbirds who frequented his yard. He did not so much enjoy the weasel and occasional mouse who also occasionally visited! Lawrence loved to travel and had many happy memories of trips to Costa Rica, Mexico, Radium, Saskatchewan River Crossing, Banff and Jasper.

Lawrence leaves to mourn his daughters Shilyn Seeley and Morgan (Darcy) Whiteside and his grandchildren: Grace (Kat), Ronan, Eliana, Ryan and Katie Seeley and Chet and Saige Whiteside; his sister Caron and brother Mervin (Teresa), his mother Doris and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father Corbet in 1988 and his sister Lana in 1963.

A graveside service will be held at the Grenfell Cemetery on June 28 at 2 pm, Grenfell, SK.
