1936 - 2021
Mrs. Isabel Jean Beauchamp passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 24th, 2021 at Bethany CollegeSide, Red Deer at the age of 85 years.
Isabel was born in Edmonton and moved to Harmattan with her loving parents Emily Cora and Albert Arthur Noakes upon adoption. When she was little, she would spend lots of time with her dad on the farm. Once, she had begged her mom for a certain pair of shoes, which were bought for her - only for her to wear them into the fields until they hurt. She took them off, and never saw them again. At the age of six, she would walk two miles uphill and downhill to school in Harmattan where she learned that she absolutely hated Phys Ed. Isabel finished her schooling in Sundre, where she met her husband Alfred at a community baseball game while both were holding onions together. When she finished school, she moved to Olds where she went to work at a bank as a teller, where there was only one adding machine, so tellers had to use their heads.
On April 4th, 1954, Isabel and Alfred were married at the Anglican Church in Harmattan. Starting her family with Alf, she took in borders. There was always a long waiting list to live with them, as Isabel would make lunches and fully cooked meals and do the billets laundry. Soon, they saw a move to Vermillion before moving to Biggar, Saskatchewan, where she joined Alfred at work at the Macleod’s Store. There, she made many special friends whom she kept in close contact with. Later, they transferred to Stettler for another journey. Isabel became the manager at Eaton’s order office, where she took great pride working at. When Eaton’s closed the offices, she began working for Peter’s Drug Store.
As semi-retirement began to loom, Isabel and Alfred moved to Innisfail, where she took a job at the Co-Op Hardware and Family Fashion and eventually became the manager. Many people in Innisfail remember her fitting their children for shoes there. She also started the Farmer’s Market in Innisfail, and would get up before 5 in the morning to bake her “fresh” lemon meringue pies. Alfred decided to semi-retire and Isabel took a part-time job at her favourite store, The Gift Loft. During their summer retirement months, they stayed in their trailer in the Green Acres campground at Pine Lake.
In full retirement, Isabel loved spending time with her grandchildren and cooking meals for family get togethers. Christmas was always her favourite time to have family together - and there was always room for extra family and friends to join. She would love to bake cookies and always had tins of them in the freezer just in case someone happened to stop by. Isabel and Alfred moved to Olds for a year before returning to Innisfail at Country Manor as the beginning of her dementia started. The next three years with dementia and COVID-19 was very hard on her and the family, but she always knew she was surrounded by people she loved, right to the end.
Isabel was a loving wife of sixty-seven years to Alfred William Beauchamp. A mother to Rose Anne, Diane (Donald), Dwayne (Tessie), Joanne and Yvonne (Terry). A grandmother to her cherished grandchildren Michael (Jessie), Mark (Monique), Angela, Robert (Janene), Calvin (Janneke), Mylagh (Rick), Blayne (Sarah), Taryn (Dan), Levi, Theresa Michelle, Mike Darryl, Mikaela, Vincent, Brandon (Danica), Emily (Eric), Jaret and Hannah. A great-grandmother to her great-grandchildren who she adored, Evie, Emrys, Adalyn, Deagan, Xander, Miles, Claire, Lyla, Kendra, Katelyn, Dominic, Francesca, Aria, Edson, Emrika and Elza. Isabel is also survived by her sons-and-daughters-in-law Donald, Shelagh, Lisa and Darwin.
Isabel was predeceased by her granddaughter Hayley, and granddaughter-in-law Jamie. The family would like to thank Dr. Miller, Dr. Hrdlicka, Dr. Bromley, Staff at Country Manor, the Hamlets, Sunset Manor, Centennial Centre and Bethany CollegeSide that gave such great care to our Mom.
