1936 – 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. David ‘Dave’ Andrew Bjarnason at the Innisfail Health Centre on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the age of 86 years.
Dave was born in Red Deer, Alberta. He married Edna Leighton on Friday, July 5, 1957, and together, they raised five daughters. As a young man, he spent his time pouring cement sidewalks along the main streets of Innisfail, Alberta. Later in life, he chose to follow the open road hauling cattle and general freight. He spent the last twenty-three years of his career hauling farm equipment for Greenline Equipment in Olds, Alberta. This is where he developed an interest in restoring antique tractors. Dave and Edna both shared this passion, and would often be seen at tractor pulls, shows and competitions all around Alberta. He was always willing to share his knowledge and experience about trucking, or tractors, and liked telling a good joke.
Dave loved to entertain with his guitar and sang many old songs. Wherever he went, he was never short on friends. He always managed to put a smile on faces. Dave will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Jolene Bjarnason (Grant), Rosalie Paliwoda (Derryll), Loretta Bjarnason, and Lois Muddle (Chris), his seventeen grandchildren, Bobbi (Ed), Jamie (Blake), Billy (Donna), David (Jade), Lorissa (Jesse), Larren; Jerilyn, Tyson (Brianne); Jaret, Amanda (Jordi), Aurora, Emily, Spencer (Chloe), and Reagan; Ryan; Cort, and Kaden (Paige), and his fifteen great grandchildren, Wyatt, Colby, Ethan, Everett, Bentleigh, Elizabetta, Gracelynn, Kayson, Maycie, Mya, Ellie; Shaylyn (Connor), Cooper, Blake and Kolt, and his special friends, Marilyn Henderson and Jean Morton.
Dave was predeceased by his wife Edna, a daughter, Cheryl and an infant daughter, Wendy. No formal funeral will be held.
