Sadly, we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Sharie Blackwell of Sundre AB at the age of 79.
Sharie was born in St Thomas ON; hometown to her mother Olive Waite and where her father Lynn Blackwell was stationed with the RCAF. Following WWII, Sharie and her parents moved to Regina SK and then Edmonton AB where she grew up and was educated. In the early 1960’s Sharie moved to Calgary and then Sundre AB where she worked for many years as a well-respected secretary in the local banking and oil industries. Sharie was an accomplished pianist who loved music, especially around a campfire. Through the years she adored her numerous pets, but Sharie’s greatest passion in life was her children and grandkids. ‘Gram’ was very active in their lives and could usually be found cheering them on at their sporting events.
Sharie is survived by her brother Randy (Linda) Blackwell of Cold Lake AB, her daughter Lorie Wild and son Lane (Philippa) Kolstad of Sundre AB, her grandchildren Chase, Justin, Jaycie, Dallas, Jillian, Stuart, Hannah and Angus, and great-grandchildren Emmy, Oliver, Felix and Maggie.
Sharie’s family is very grateful for the loving care that was provided to her in her final years, first by her daughter Lorie and then by her continuing care professionals in Consort and Sundre AB. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations on Sharie’s behalf may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta & NWT.
