July 8, 1928 – January 14, 2024
William Stanley (Bill) Clancy passed away January 14, 2024, in Olds Alberta at the age of 95. Born to Lillian and Stanley Clancy in Durban Manitoba July 8, 1928.
He spent his early years working on the family farm with his parents and three brothers. Bill attended school in Durban. After getting his education he had many jobs across Manitoba. From Forestry to working on The Ontario/ Manitoba boundary, building fire towers on Duck Mountain and eventually working in the oil Field.
Bill met Margaret Smithson and they married in 1955. Following the oil patch to the west into Saskatchewan and then Alberta. Moving to Olds in 1970.
Raising his three children, Bill worked in the oil fields in and around the Olds and Three hills area. He spent many years as a volunteer fire fighter in Olds. He was a long-time member of the Olds Legion and the Olds Elks doing many volunteer hours for both and enjoying it all.
Bill met Elaine McInnes in 1984 and in 1985 they purchased a home in Olds. Elaine and her children moved to town. Together they spend many hours working on Elaine's farm, golfing, gardening, learning square dancing and enjoying their time together.
Bill retired in 1993 at the age of 65. He had many hobbies. His motto was "to never stop learning". He enjoyed locksmithing and making custom golf clubs. Bill and Elaine spent many winters in Arizona enjoying new company and exploring new places. Bill learned the art of wood carving and silver smithing and enjoyed the warmer weather.
After Elaine's passing in 2012 Bill continued to live on his own spending many hours gardening, volunteering and spending time with his family. He enjoyed spending many weekends camping "out west in the bush" exploring or just relaxing.
He was a kind, generous, loving and caring father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and friend. Never missing a celebration. He was the friend that would be there if you needed help. He was the volunteer when there wasn't anyone else.
Bill is predeceased by his parents Lillian in 1999 & Stanley in 1958. Bother James Roy in 2007 & Brother John Calvin in 1993.
Survived by brother Donald Gilbert Clancy. Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family. Known by many as Gramps. Lovingly & aways remembered by his Grandchildren Calvin, Nathan (Kandice), Nicholas (Britney), Justin (Jessica), Brandon, Grayson. Great grandchildren Anthony, Jaydan and Connor, Maya, Flinn and Ella. Stepchildren Darren (Trish) & Joanne. His children Ken (Heather), Val (Ed), Pat (Henry). You will be forever on our minds and in our thoughts.
