November 26, 1933 - July 8, 2020

It is with deepest sadness that the family of Bud Collin announces his passing July 8, 2020.

Dad was born November 26, 1933 to Bill and Frances Collin and was raised on the farm west of Warner where he continued to farm until 1974.  He then moved his family to Penticton BC where he owned a feed and tack store.  In 1988 mom and dad returned to Alberta where they resided in Olds.

Dad retired in July 2005 which allowed him time to help with seeding and harvest at Brian’s farm near Boyle, Alberta. He earned the name “swather man” because of the number of hours a day that he would spend on the swather.  If he wasn’t at the farm or in Arizona you could find him in his wood shop working on his next project.

He spent many, many winters in Arizona and looked forward to the 5 months he would spend there with relatives and the many friends he made over the years.

Dad was predeceased by his wife Sharon, his infant son Dale, his parents, his oldest brother Delbert, and his youngest sister Denise. He leaves to mourn his passing his children Kellie, Brian (Lorraine), Gary (Sharon), and the love of his life and special friend Phyllis, 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren with 1 more on the way. He held a special place in his heart for each and everyone of his grandchildren and always took special interest in their lives.

He is also survived by 2 brothers, Wilbur (Edith), Terry and 2 sisters Collette (Art) and Catherine.

Special thanks to Dr Roussow, the cardiologists in Red Deer and Edmonton, and the healthcare team at Athabasca Health Center and a very special thank you to Joan Cody (Dad’s cousin) and her healthcare team at Extendicare Athabasca.

We love you Dad and you will be forever missed.

In lieu of flowers you may donate to Extendicare Athabasca/residents council

Vigil Rites were held on Monday, July 13, 2020 St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Olds, Alberta with Funeral Mass to follow on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 11:00 AM.
