October 19, 1941 - February 9, 2024
William John (Jack) Craig of Olds passed away Feb. 9, 2024 at home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Olds Oct. 19, 1941 to Mildred and Alec Craig. His schooling, from Grade 1 – 9 was at Betchton School. Jack was an active member of the 4-H Dairy Club and won at public speaking, sending him on a trip to the Royal Winter Fair.
On June 3, 1966, Jack married Louise Nesom. They dairy farmed until 1987. They were blessed with two great boys – Darcy and Dean. In July of 1987, Jack and Louise started a new career in the movie business, opening up a life of friends and the continuation of Jack’s appreciation of youth strengthened through his many years as a 4-H leader. This newfound career led him to membership in the Alberta Motion Picture Theatre and Alberta Motion Picture Pioneers associations. This was true to form for Jack as in his earlier years he was a delegate for the Central Alberta Dairy Pool and a Betchton Community Centre board member.
Jack loved life whether on the ball field, at the Mayfair Cinema, or tending to his land. Jack’s life changed in 2011 after complications from surgery. It hindered his daily activities but didn’t diminish his love for his family or his tendency to tease. Jack was still a major influence on the family farm giving Darcy advice and guidance.
Jack was predeceased by his parents Alec and Mildred Craig, sister and brother-in-law Donna and Ben Olsson and brother-in-law Herb Splett.
He is survived by Louise, Darcy (Jen), Dean, sister Marion Splett and numerous nieces and nephews.
