1928 - 2020
Lillian passed away November 8, 2020 in the Olds Hospital & Care Centre at the age of 92 years.
She was born May 16, 1928 in Camrose, AB. Lillian moved to Calgary in 1932 with her parents William & Pauline Thurn. She attended Bridgeland, Langevin and Western Canada High Schools and then worked at the C.P.R. office. Lillian married Jack Cruickshank on May 3, 1947 and they were married for 60 years.
Lillian was predeceased by Jack on Nov. 18, 2007. In 1947, Jack & Lillian moved to Olds and together had 4 children; 2 boys and 2 girls. They took great pride in raising Charolais cattle and took them on many trips to the USA, South Africa and Switzerland. Lillian & Jack attended many Shell Oil Resources events as Jack was employed there for 30 years. Lillian volunteered for 19 years in the Junior Handicrafts category at Olds Agriculture Society County Fair. She was a member of Glamis WI for 25 years and a private talented group call “Goof-Offs” meeting every Thursday where they exchanged many talents and comradery. Lillian also loved her big garden and beautiful flowers. Over the years, she was an avid antique collector and had many antique sales. Lillian always made their family her first and foremost priority. Her delightful grandchildren and great-grandchildren visits were enjoyed thoroughly.
Lillian will be forever remembered by her children Wayne (Phyllis) Cruikshank, Celia (Randy Gaudet), Jacquelin (Gary) Latimer, James “Jim” (Cecile) Cruikshank; grandchildren Nadene (Cam), Lisa (Rick), Lana (John), Kevin, Michael (Kajal), Richard (Kelly), Jeff (Danielle), Sara (Dusty Howell), Jack (Chantel), Bradley (Stephanie); great-grandchildren Ava, Ainsley, Georga, Jude, Tyson, Luke, Jack, Nick, Lauren, Louis, Ella, Alix, Mya, Gordon, Lilly, Sadee, Reed, Bennett; brother-in-law Stuart (Lorna) Cruikshank of La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
