March 9,1929 – April 23, 2020
With sadness the family of LORETTA DANIELSON of Carstairs announce her passing on April 23, 2020.
Loretta was born on March 9, 1929 and loved farm life on the Thompson Homestead near Barrhead. Only daughter of a pioneer farmer and a school teacher, she helped her parents make a living through the Depression years, attended a country school, and then Alberta College in Edmonton. She loved her work nursing TB patients at Charles Camsell Hospital until her marriage to Ola Danielson in June, 1952. Together they farmed for twenty years each in Sedgewick, Barrhead and Carstairs, as he gradually lost his eyesight. Loretta was an full-time farm partner, operating farm trucks and equipment, nurturing animals and crops. She was also active in her church, taught Sunday School, enjoyed being a 4H Leader, and volunteered in many community organizations. As someone said “She was small but mighty!” Her love of travel and friends meant driving across western Canada and USA. Grandma especially loved her five grandchildren Landon, Janelle, Lori, Lowell & Julie, who she was very proud of. After 59 years of marriage and celebrating weddings of their grandchildren, she and Ola were blessed with twelve wonderful great-grandchildren.
Loretta enjoyed her retirement, crafting, gardening and Family Research. After Ola death in 2011 she moved from the farm and lived with her daughter Judy & Brian Taylor, and later at Aspen Ridge Lodge in Didsbury, where wonderful staff cared for her needs until her peaceful passing at the age of 91. Celebration of Life at a later date. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.myalternatives.ca.
