A loving mom, grandma, aunt and friend who knew her. Irene was born July 4,1930 to Peter and Katherine O’Dell of Fitzmaurice, Saskatchewan. Irene passed away peacefully in the Olds Hospital and Care Centre on January 28, 2022.
She was educated at a rural school, finishing High School in Saskatoon. She then attended nursing school, graduating in 1949. Irene’s working career included Loon Lake, Olds and Didsbury Hospitals as well an ambulance attendant with Laurance Doherty. In the years between, Irene was a loving and compassionate woman who loved to cook, bake, sew and garden.
She was predeceased by husbands Lester James, Fred Frizsche and Laurance Doherty, son Johnny James, sister Blanche and two brothers.
Irene is survived by daughter Kathy (Jack) Bannerman, son Pat Fritzsche, grandchildren Shane (Melissa) Bannerman, Angie (Josh) Wagner and three great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the Olds Hospital and Care Centre for their kindness, compassion and support.
As per Irene’s wishes a private graveside prayers will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Olds Hospice Centre.
