With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Alfred Eugene Dumont on Saturday May 14th, 2022, son of Mary Vanesse and Ambrose Dumont.
Al was born into a large family of nine brothers and sisters. Known as “Moe” to his loving family, Al began working with his father and brothers as a logger and a laborer at the age of 15. He went on to become a Pipefitter as well as an Oil and Gas Inspector, working for nearly 50 years all over Western Canada. He is held in high regard by all who knew him and refer to him as a kind and generous soul.
Al leaves behind his 3 sons; Danell (Lyn), Clarke (Tara) and Joel. Grandfather to 3 boys; Jack, Wyland, and Skyler, who will always remember him as a sweet, loving grandfather who gave the best hugs. Survived by his beloved siblings Herb, Marg, Leo, Bruce, Doreen and Marilyn.
Al is predeceased by his parents Ambrose and Mary; siblings Lorraine, Isabelle, Danny and Willie. We would also like to acknowledge his friend Lynn Cairns (sweetheart) and his AA family who he valued dearly for their support and encouragement. In Al's elder years he continued his passion of being a meticulous artisan crafting with leather, jewelry and woodworking. All while embracing his Metis culture and language. In whatever journey Al embarked on, Sundre always called him home. There is no goodbye in the Cree language, but a phrase of “until we meet again” - Mwestas Kitwam Kawawpamitin.
A celebration of life will be held at the Sundre Community Centre on what would have been Alfred's 75th birthday, June 5th 2022 from 2pm until 5pm. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to be made in Al’s name to a Metis charity of your choice. Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Sundre entrusted with arrangements. 403-638-4393.
