April 4, 1972 - December 11, 2020
Kathy was born April 4, 1972 in Three Hills, Ab to parents Archie and Blanche McDiarmid of Linden, Ab. She was the youngest of four siblings, and the only girl. Growing up on the family farm just west of Linden with a small dairy operation, horses, market turkeys, and large family garden, Kathy fell in love with country living. Upon completion of her high school graduation year of 1990 in Acme, Kathy moved to Calgary to start work and found employment with Halliburton. This is where she met the love of her life, Cody, and were married August 1, 1992. Kathy loved everything outdoors, whether it was spending time in the Foothills/mountains during the fall hunting season or on a lake or stream with a fishing pole in hand. She loved the western lifestyle, the time spent on a horse was cherished, and was a big fan of rodeo and the chuckwagons. In 2012, Kathy and Cody, moved their family from Calgary to an acreage southeast of Carstairs to regain their desired country lifestyle and raise the children in a rural setting. Much of her spare time at home was spent in her garden or flower beds during the summer months, as well as enjoying conversations with her many friends.
During her fifteen years of employment with Halliburton, Kathy found her niche in the business world and was successful in obtaining her IFMA (International Facility Management Association) certification. No task was too big or small and she relished the challenge of a new project. Her employment with Deloitte spanned twelve years and was a valued member of their National Real Estate team. During this time, Kathy was able to oversee and manage projects across Canada.
Family was the most important thing in Kathy's life and her two kids and husband were her pride and joy. Kathy thoroughly enjoyed family camping trips and spending time around the campfire with family and friends. She also loved playing cards or board games. She truly valued her relationships with friends and devoted herself to family. Kathy was truly a selfless individual and took every opportunity to encourage and support her family, friends, and co-workers.
At the time of her passing on December 11, 2020 we lost an irreplaceable member of our family and will be lovingly remembered by her husband of twenty-eight years, Cody, and her two children, Chase and Kady, her mother Blanche, and three brothers, Mike(Brenda), Jim, Danny(Angela).
