1931 – 2024

Mrs. Dona Edgar passed away with her loving family by her side on October 1, 2024 at the age of 93 years.

Born and raised in Calgary, Dona 'Red' Edgar moved to Innisfail, Alberta, in 1964 with her husband, John 'Jack' Edgar, and their son Dean, with Jason born shortly after. She was passionate about the Innisfail town theater and had been a vital part of ITT since its inception in 1979, contributing her talents both on and off the stage. Over the years, she performed in nineteen plays and musicals, while also taking on roles as producer, director, and front of house manager, guiding volunteers for many years.

Everyone who knew her was aware she was a HUGE fan of the Calgary Flames and almost never missed watching a game. Red also played violin in the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. She enjoyed socializing, martinis, and watching her sons play hockey, famously yelling at referees and her boys (Jezus Jason and Dammit Dean). Her humor and bright smile defined her.

Red worked with her husband at their Accounting practice during tax season until her birthday on April 30, always marked with a party. She will be deeply missed.

Dona will lovingly remembered by her two sons, Jason (Kim) Edgar, Dean and partner Janna Miller.

Dona was predeceased by her husband John ‘Jack’ Edgar and her parents Carmen and Mooch Elliot.

A Celebration of Dona’s Life will be announced soon. If friends so desire, Memorial Donations may be made to Innisfail Town Theatre. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com. Arrangements in care of: Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., 4415 – 49 Street, Innisfail, Alberta.
