It is with great sadness the family wishes to announce the passing of Geraldine Mary Fate of Olds, Alberta on March 26, 2023, at the age of 86 years.
Geraldine (Gerry) was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. Her family, friends and neighbors were very important to her. Gerry graduated from nursing school and was always interested in health care. She enjoyed the reunions with her fellow classmates and some were friends for life. Gerry was a beautiful young lady and participated in many beauty contests. Gerry was proud of her Scottish heritage and was a beautiful highland dancer. She enjoyed sharing her heritage with her children and grandchildren.
Gerry was a selfless volunteer, giving her time and talents to Brownies and Guides, Meals on Wheels, Innis Lake Ladies, Olds Minor Sports and several crafting and quilting clubs. Gerry loved to garden and produced beautiful flower beds. Gerry loved camping with family and friends, trail rides and watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports, music and drama.
Gerry was a curler and enjoyed watching curling and figure skating on tv. Gerry was always caring and willing to share her time and energy with hosted hockey billets, family and friends.
Gerry is survived by her husband; Harry David Fate, her children; Greg (Norma), Dwayne (Allie), Kathy (Steve), Murray (Lori) and families; her 11 grandchildren and her 6 great grandchildren. Gerry was predeceased by her parents Edward and Sarah McGeachy and her brother Ron McGeachy.
A Celebration of Life Tea, will be held at Innis Lake Hall on Sunday, June 25th at 1:00 PM, for family, friends and neighbors.
