1937 – 2024
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our brother, uncle, and great uncle, Ronald John ‘Ron’ Faye. Ron passed away at Red Deer Regional Hospital, Red Deer, Alberta on the morning of January 10, 2024, at the age of 86 years.
A true farmer, Ron was born on June 15, 1937 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. He was raised on the family farm with his older brothers, Magnus, and Eric, as well as his older sister, Elsie. Ron’s father, Joachim, passed away in 1947 leaving his mother, Elsa, to manage. Ron graduated high school at the Red Deer Composite High School and then attended the University of Alberta for a short time but had a brief period of illness.
Ron worked one winter in oil and gas at Fox Creek. Since that time Ron farmed and raised cattle with his older brother, Magnus ‘Mac’, until Mac’s early passing in 1980. He continued farming through his mother’s passing in 1997 and later he retired after the 2018 harvest. Ron’s love for the land was unmatched and unwavering, growing crops every year and harvesting with the help of his nephew, Derek, as well as Doug.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Eric, his nieces, Susan (Terry), Jen, and Allison (Joe), and his nephews, Dave, Doug (Crisandra), Jeff (Carol), and Derek, as well as their children. Ron will also be deeply missed by his peers in the farming industry in the Innisfail, Alberta area.
Ron was predeceased by his brother, Magnus, and his sister, Elsie, as well as his mother, Elsa.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Sunset Manor for their warm and compassionate care that they provided for Ron over the last few years.
