It is with great sadness that the family of Norma Alice Fenton announces her passing on August 28, 2023, at the age of 82 years, at the Edson Community Healthcare Center.
Norma was a warm and generous person, who deeply cared for her family and friends. She was involved in all aspects of her son’s lives, often helping to lead, organize or support the organizations and groups they were involved in, from Boy Scouts, minor hockey and baseball to Gymkhana and many others. Norma had a passion for helping others through her health food store in Stettler and florist shop in Sundre. She spent many years as a volunteer with Victim Services providing support to others in their times of greatest need. Like most grandparents, Norma’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought the greatest light to her life.
Norma will be dearly missed by her sons Mitch (Betty Ann), Mark (Kathy), and Matt (Lanaia) Donkin, her grandchildren Darren (Jessica), Melissa (Blake), Krystina (Dave), and Stephanie (Kerri), great-grandchildren Barrett, Chase, Mackenzie, Charlie Rose, Rory and Jackson, and her sisters Molly and Kay. Norma is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family, and her many friends. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Mary (nee Terry) Fenton, her siblings John, Jerry, Patricia, and Brian and her son Murphy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Knight, the nurses and staff of Home Care, the Edson Community Health Center and Parkland Lodge for the love, exceptional care, compassion and commitment in Norma’s final days.
In lieu of floral tributes, a donation can be made to the Evergreen Foundation (Parkland Lodge), The Canadian Cancer Society, or any other charitable organization of your choice.
To celebrate Norma’s life, a reception will be held at the Sundre Museum, Wednesday, November 22, 10am – 12 noon.
