1946 - 2021
The family of Anna Mae Fulkerth is saddened to announce her passing after a brief illness. She was born May 11, 1946 to Floyd & Grace (nee Key) Banta, joining Beverly & Darrold. They lived on a farm near Dogpound until her dad took ill and Grace and the kids moved to the teacherage at Reed Ranch before settling in Didsbury in the early 1950’s. Anna Mae attended school in Didsbury and then went to Calgary and took the Nurse’s Aid program at the Alberta Vocational Center, she returned to Didsbury where she began working at the Didsbury hospital. In October 1966 she married Bernie Fulkerth and moved to the family dairy farm. They continued to dairy and grain farm and over the next 13 years they welcomed their 5 children.
Anna Mae was actively involved with her children, always on the go to some activity and there probably isn’t a school field trip that she didn’t go on at least 5 times!! Packing up the kids and her mom every summer to spend a week at her Aunt’s cabin at Rosen Lake near Fernie, BC. Loading up all the “Fulkerth Cousins” and going swimming, skating, or to drive-in movies.
Bernie passed away suddenly in 1994, leaving Anna Mae time to go with Ben on his high school trip to Europe in 1996, this gave her the travel bug which led to numerous trips. She got to go with her kids & grandkids to MLB, NBA, NHL & CFL games in Canada & the US. As well as many curling events, Vegas being her favourite, where she ended up on the cover of the Las Vegas Curling News for her support of Team Canada!! She loved camping with family and friends at yearly ball tournaments and later for our yearly golfing excursions. As the grandkids got older Anna Mae spent countless hours watching and travelling around to see them play their sports.
Anna Mae leaves to mourn her five children Sharon Foshaug (Norman) children Laine & Breanna; Debbie Iversen (John) children Luke & Abbey; Peggy Fulkerth; Beverlee Collinge (Ken) step children Amber Teskey (Steve) daughter Francis, Kyle Collinge (Nora Drechsler); Ben Fulkerth (Christine); brother Darrold Banta, his children Melissa Banta (Kevin Derksen) their daughter Elizabeth, Greg Banta and Bernie’s two sisters Geraldine Brown & Maxine Ollech and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bernie, parents Floyd & Grace Banta, sister Beverly and in-laws Russell and Lillian Fulkerth.
At Anna Mae’s request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to STARS, or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
