Gilbert Henry Glesser (Gil) beloved partner of Ruth Miles of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the age of 92 years. He will be dearly missed by Ruth’s son Kirk Miles and his partner Tania Sablatash and their daughter Grace Miles.
Born in Chicoutimi, Quebec Gil struggled with a broken family life until he landed on his feet as a hired hand for the Gunn Dairy Farm, just outside Calgary, Alberta. He laboured for the Gunn farm for over forty years and became a proficient dairy farmer. Gil managed the estate all through his retirement and did not turn over the running of the farm until 2014 at the age of 84. His hobbies included intricate woodworking, computers, and he was also an avid history buff with an insatiable appetite for reading. However, the most fascinating of all his interests, was he was self taught in advanced mathematics, including trigonometry, calculus and algebra.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home (Prairie View Chapel, 1605 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with graveside service to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
