1937 – 2022
It is with very heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our Mom, Granny and Great Granny, Elizabeth Anne ‘Betty’ Golosky (nee Madsen) at Innisfail, Alberta on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the age of 84 years.
Betty was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta and moved with her family to various small towns in the Province before settling in Edmonton, Alberta. Betty was a proud graduate of the 1960 class of the Edmonton General Hospital Registered Nursing program. In 1961, she travelled to Fort McMurray, Alberta for a six-week nursing contract at the old St. Gabriel Hospital, where she soon met the love of her life, Grant Golosky. She nursed in Fort McMurray from 1961 to 1979 and then at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre in Red Deer, Alberta from 1979 until 1985, before moving back to Fort McMurray.
Betty was a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was very independent, determined and unafraid to learn new things. She was an animal lover and a huge fan of curling. If you called during curling season, you may have been told “call me back after curling is over”.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her son, Andrew (Ella), her daughter, Christine (Andy), her grandchildren, Lauren Golosky-Meacher (Kevin), Adrian Golosky, Kirsten Greeley, Danielle Greeley and her great granddaughter, Cecelia Meacher.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Grant Golosky, a daughter, Andrea Golosky, a brother, Neil Madsen, a sister, Jean Stewart and her parents, Anders and Rose Madsen.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at a later date in Fort McMurray, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Betty’s honor may be made to the Central Alberta Humane Society at www.cahumane.com or to the Fort McMurray S.P.C.A at www.fmspca.ca.
