Roberta Goodwin-McIntyre of Sundre, passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Olds Hospital & Care Center on Friday, June 21, 2024 at the age of 86 years.

Roberta was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on October 28 1937 as the eldest child of Bob and Angelina Campkin. The family moved to Trenville, Alberta when she was a baby, Elnora in 1942 and later to Devon in 1951. It was while attending school in Devon where she would meet a special teacher who became her mentor, and who inspired her love of education and teaching. Roberta was proud to  graduate with honors as part of the first high school graduating class from the town of Devon.

She went on to attend the U of A to become a teacher, and so began her career.

In 1962 Roberta and her husband Jerry along with their young family moved to Westward Ho where many of the Campkin’s had relocated to. Roberta continued teaching in various capacities in Sundre and throughout the surrounding area, including assisting the homeschool program. Education and learning was very important to Roberta, and she enjoyed helping her students achieve knowledge to the greatest of their ability.

Roberta was vibrant and energetic and enjoyed her retirement where she travelled, spent time with family, and volunteered for a number of local organizations. She loved music and was ready to dance at anytime.

Roberta is survived by her son Murray (Jolene) McIntyre of Sundre, along with grandchildren Jeff (Chelsey) McIntyre, Dale (Jenn) McIntyre, Tyler (Bailey) McIntyre, Carter (Shelby) McIntyre, Matt (Leah) Lyle, Travis (Elaine) Lyle, step-grandchildren Brendan McBride and Megan McBride. She will be dearly missed by her 12 great grandchildren, her brother Colin (Anita) Campkin, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family

Roberta was predeceased by her parents Bob and Angelina, her daughter Kelly, her adopted son Bobby, her brothers Douglas and Sam, and her sisters Faye and Shaynee.

A memorial will be held at a later date.
