Madeline Hall (Nikolai) passed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, whom she loved and served, on Dec 25, 2022, in Olds Alberta.
Madeline was predeceased by her parents Rudolph and Hildegard Nikolai; husband, Colin Hall and son, Ronald Hall.
Madeline was survived by her sister, Lilian Kuhnert; son, Dean (Claudia) Hall, daughter, Linda (Bob) Cuthill; grandchildren, Chandra (Riley) Hall, Colton Hall, Nikolai Cuthill and Kevin Cuthill and great grandchildren, Keiran, Rhianne, Jayla and Everett Hall.
Madeline was literally born on the family farm, Oct 1, 1931 in the Reed Ranch District. She attended the Reed Ranch School for her primary years and one year in Olds School. Madeline attended the CIT (Christian Institute for Training) in Edmonton, AB and also finished a two year business course. Madeline worked in an Insurance company both in Edmonton and Calgary. She met her husband Colin through mutual friends and were married on July 16, 1960 at the East Olds Baptist Church. Initially Madeline and Colin lived in Calgary; Madeline working in Insurance and Colin as a land surveyor. Their first two children were born in Calgary, Dean,1962; Ronnie, 1963 and daughter Linda born in Olds,1967.
Madeline loved living on the farm and taking care of the various livestock and especially landscaping the property with trees, flowering shrubs, and flower beds full of perennial plants. She was well known in the community for sharing slips or bulbs from her beautiful garden. Madeline's first passion was serving her Lord and Saviour in the community and her church, East Olds Baptist Church. Madeline taught Sunday school,
was actively involved in Ladies Ministry, sang in the choir, taught in Vacation Bible School and later became a Deaconess. Madeline had home Bible studies with ladies from the community for many years, both on the farm and in her town residence.
Madeline's love for the Word of God led her to daily reading of the Bible and attending Bible studies up until her passing. Madeline's greatest legacy was her ministry of prayer. Madeline faithfully prayed daily for her family and members of the community and was part of her church's prayer chain. Madeline was very ready to go "home" to heaven; she talked of it for some time and peacefully passed into His presence on Christmas day. Family and friends will deeply miss Madeline and her outstanding presence in the community.
As Madeline's family we thank the Olds Hospital for their incredible end stage care. Thank you to all the residents and staff at the Mountainview Lodge for their friendship, community, and kindness, where Madeline truly felt at home.
