1927-2022
It is with great sadness that we wish to announce to the public the unexpected passing of Margaret Hergert on May 19, 2022 at the age of 94 years old.
Born in Ratkovska, Sucha, Czechoslovakia in 1927, Margaret was the eldest of three children born to Martin and Anna Sakal. The Family immigrated to Canada through Great Britain and settled in the Drumheller area where her father, Martin Sakal, worked as a blacksmith in the mining industry. Margaret completed a BSC degree at the University of Alberta which allowed her to pursue a rewarding career in Public Health Care as a RN.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Hergert in 1988 and is survived by her three children; Elizabeth, Brian, and Timothy and will be dearly missed by all.
She enjoyed the simpler things in life. Visiting with her loving family, traveling with her friends in retirement, and reading.
As per Margaret’s wishes there will be no funeral service or celebration of life. In lieu of sending flowers please make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
